Hi! You’re receiving this because you’re a friend who’s expressed some interest in my writing in the past, and now instead of haphazardly sending links here and there, I’m just going to proactively show up in your inbox… If you so choose.
I know, I know, another newsletter cluttering up your inbox with no editorial oversight and plenty of type-o’s. But this means I can connect with you in the one place where I don’t have to worry about censorship, algorithm, or being banned: your e-mail inbox.
How did E-MAIL survive when MySpace perished!? Alas, I plan to utilize Substack to direct you to my latest published works, upcoming comedy shows, and share the occasional short-form writing. I hope you decide to stick around 😃
I call this Happy Medium because that’s what I strive for. As a bilingual, cultural in-betweener, I constantly straddle two or more perspectives, searching for the happy medium. A translator/interpreter/writer is by definition a medium, a conduit through which stories flow, and if I succeed in doing that well, that makes me a Happy Medium.
I’m creating this space with the hope of building a Chinese diaspora and ally community, a place where folk with varying degrees of affinity to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, China and beyond to connect in [waves at the world] whatever this is.
